I found this ^ video a couple of weeks ago on the internet. It’s about a social experiment of a guy walking around with a fake Oscar , and he’s getting all sorts of VIP treatment…

What am I getting at with this??

That’s precisely the type of adoration and treatment the Hipster Lions receive when they’re out on the town (minus the fake Oscar of course).. When I conceptualized them, I eventually came to the realization that they were like gods and would be treated as such… Think of Dos Equis’ The Most Interesting Man in the World…x100

You can hate on this guy in the video if you want, but at some point I think everyone wishes they could have some type of special treatment like this!

Why My Art Needs a Bad Side

I have been told by some people that my art looks angry.

Fair enough.

But I don’t think my art is angry. I think my art is REAL. You either love that part of it or hate it.

I’d like to think of my art as that person you know that’s fun to be around, but at the same time you don’t want to see them get upset. Yet if youre going to be in their life, you have to take the good with the bad. truth be told, we ALL have that side of us that’s ugly to the world (and yet is considered beautiful to others). My art represents the scope of life and the beautiful and ugly that’s in that scope.

GOING AT HATERS

Sometimes when push comes to shove and you’re backed into a corner, you have to turn up the heat and fight back even harder.. especially if you’re trying to get respect, reach a goal, or you’ve just flat out had enough. It’s Human nature.

In theory, I’m about peace. However when i feel I’m being attacked, then I have to fight back, or i have to express something that got on my nerves. as I’m banishing it into oblivion. That negative shit makes it harder to elevate to higher heights.

Using Symbolism

R.Mac- raw truth, idealism, & the speculative

One of the elements of my brand of art is using symbolism to reinforce ideas and concepts that i want to develop, say from a previous art piece that I’ve worked on to strengthen its credibility… for the sake of this blog, I’m only going to talk about 3 symbols, (1 of which is my logo) since they are the foundation of the brand.

Intensity fist (raw truth)

this is the side of my work that has the intense,  aggressive and blunt quality to it. that “whoa” factor.Truth hurts… like when you tell that obnoxious relative exactly what you think of them…hence why I Used a fiery fist. Truth be told, it’s not necessarily fire, it could be an energy blast also.  but it’s considered raw truth in the sense of what I’m feeling – sort of like how you may secretly want to put your backstabbing co-worker through a wall – I make that happen on paper, lol …here are a couple of examples:

In the logo sense, it’s the free creative reign that I have while creating this world from my thoughts .. but also, There’s always some type of desired result/lifestyle or outcome that we all shoot for… dream job, better status and likeability or higher spiritual state, even utopia. but nothing’s perfect, but shooting higher is always something that’s been admired. Think about how you desire to get that house with the white picket fence and the cute little dog. That would also be a form of idealism. Here are some examples…

Reverie Bird (the speculative)

Speculative as in fantasy art/sci fi / otherworldly appeal. There’s no question that I’m heavily influenced by the comicbook/ fantasy /scifi art. Whether goddesses, hipster lions, or some strange environment, adding that element to my art just makes things much more interesting…I view my imagination traveling like a bird flying high above with an unlimited view of where i desire to go…Think about when you have to solve a complicated problem at work and sometimes you have to think outside the box and speculate on different possibilities.  I basically do that with my art.  here’s a little blurb on that ..

Consumed by Passion ; Seduced by Wealth

This is a project that I’m working on that explores the relationship between the two entities of passion and wealth. They are 2 opposing forces that still exist within the same plane and yet can be interpreted a number of ways. For instance, they could be motivating reasons for choosing a career, or it could be something much bigger than that. I like to play on duality concepts because the opposites have really strong polarities when it comes to comparisons… Anyway, this is what I’m working with so far with developing this concept…

I decided to take the approach of using personification represent the two elements of passion (love) and wealth as two distinctly different goddesses.  Tamani represents the passion, and she has a sensually seductive demeanor about her

red hair with flowers paw tattoos and the soft green it helps to add to the whole overall look to something of an intimate nature. A passion for something will help keep your soul burning strong and as such you are further able to take further risks exploring the subject of interest , whether it be a career choice, a lover or something else.

The other goddess Ziva represents the wealth aspect of things, and she has a more assertive, dominant nature..

she has dollar bill flourish decorations all over her. In concordance with her flashy looking nature, she’s wielding a diamond in one hand and a gold bullion in the other… it’s like she knows what kind of influence she has with the power she exudes behind all of her status. Whatever she has, she makes it look desirable to possess  though one may not know what the tradeoff is of pursuing something that expensive…

The origin of the R.Mac Logo…

What is R.Mac all about??

It’s a manifestation of my thoughts in the form of artistic pictures. It’s about putting down my feelings on paper because I have something to say and like everyone, I have emotions. It’s about controlling my fate and my outcome . It’s also about seeing things the way I want to see them. My world, My thoughts, My imagination, expressed in a raw truth that is sometimes pleasing, and other times aggressive to look at.

So where does the logo come in??

The current logo actually was merely just a t-shirt design concept in the beginning.. I referred to the cloud that bore a 7pt. crown simply referred to as “Elevate”… Some metaphysical , bettering yourself type shit on a mental level. I felt it was cool because to me it also was saying you were so far ahead of everyone else in having your shit together and the way you think that nobody could touch you. However, It had been insinuated that it could be associated with the Latin Kings (I think whoever said that was just fucking with me though –  I found out later that Latin Kings have 5 pt. crowns, and there are damn sure no clouds on them either! Good ole’ Google)

Anyway, as I still had this design sitting on the shelf with an intent to use it somehow and some way, I was trying to work out my logo for my type of art… I explored Ideas that played on the dual sided nature of my art, but to no avail.. Everything I was doing ended up looking lame and not fitting at all for who I embodied as an artist.

Then one day as I was working my day job, it occurred to me in an a typical creative person’s “aha!” moment that the Elevate cloud would be a perfect fit for my logo! After toying for a half an hr or so with all of the possible interpretations, I decided that it would be the perfect fit for R.Mac.

The Upgrade by R.Mac

Here’s some interpretations of the Elevated Cloud logo:

– it symbolizes the supreme value of my talent and thoughts that i’m putting on paper, as well as how far and how high I would like to see this vision go.

– It puts me as supreme ruler of my artistic universe through the ideas i develop with the granted authority I have to convey this raw truth that comes so potent through my artistic mediums – aka a Godlike figure

– It also represents absolute free range to explore whatever the hell I like with no inhibitions whatsoever.

– a level of power/ skill/ transcendence that can be reached after proving yourself in various trials and situations. ( I did a piece on that using the logo

– success,  being in high places, and having status

– Keeping yourself mentally high especially if others are trying to pull you back down

The great thing about it is that it’s very applicable in many situations. It’s also worth noting that the blue and red jewels in the logo (1st picture) represents the duality that exists in my work. I have stuff that is calming and relaxing, and then there’s the “don’t fuck with me” side to my work 😉
